{"id":1082,"date":"2025-10-14T06:24:28","date_gmt":"2025-10-14T06:24:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/visitvisegrad.hu\/fedezd-fel-jelnyelven-magyarorszagot\/"},"modified":"2026-06-06T13:11:59","modified_gmt":"2026-06-06T13:11:59","slug":"fedezd-fel-jelnyelven-magyarorszagot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/visitvisegrad.hu\/en\/fedezd-fel-jelnyelven-magyarorszagot\/","title":{"rendered":"Discover Hungary through sign language!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"module-main--height mt30\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>We would like to tell you about a truly innovative and supportive initiative, through which our fellow Hungarians and anyone else around the world who is interested in our country can learn about Visegr\u00e1d, alongside several other Hungarian tourist attractions, in sign language.<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On 28 September 2025, the relevant section of the project\u2019s website went live, allowing us to easily search for places of interest and view the related content in sign language straight away.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ccm-custom-style-container ccm-custom-style-tartalom-10502\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/signtourshungary.com\/hu\/location\/10\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"button button-red\">Click here to view the material on Visegr\u00e1d.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Foundation for Sign Language Education and Translation, or the JOF Foundation, was established in 2020 with the aim of promoting equal opportunities for people with hearing impairments and opening up the world to them. In Hungary, there are more than 8,500 deaf people and 63,000 people with hearing loss, who have a right to access information; but it is also important to support them in ways that do not necessarily relate to the struggles of everyday life, as they too would like to relax, travel, learn about new things and explore.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">30 videos have now been uploaded to the foundation\u2019s website, each of which tells the story of 30 Hungarian landmarks in Hungarian sign language with Hungarian narration, and in international sign language with English narration.<br \/>\nThis project, made possible with the support of the Pro Filii Foundation, goes a long way towards helping sign language users to get to know places such as Visegr\u00e1d, Lake Balaton, Szeged Cathedral, the Aggtelek stalactite cave and St Stephen\u2019s Basilica, amongst other places.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We are confident that more and more people will set out to discover our country, including those who, due to hearing difficulties, have so far felt less determined to do so, being well aware of the barriers that we might not even notice.
