The Pilis Mountains are teeming with easy hiking trails and breathtaking destinations, and are easily accessible from Visegr\u00e1d. One such destination is the legendary Pap-r\u00e9t.<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re thinking of a spring outing that\u2019s easy to manage \u2013 one you could even do with children \u2013 and would like to explore something a little off the beaten track rather than the usual, well-known spots, we\u2019d be delighted to recommend Pap-r\u00e9t, near Pilisszentl\u00e1szl\u00f3. The meadow, which is crossed by the National Blue Trail, is a true hidden gem, set in beautiful surroundings and well known amongst seasoned forest walkers.\u00a0
\nThe artificial lake in the centre was created in the 1700s by local people to provide water for their grazing livestock; today, however, this lake \u2013 which is now classified as a wetland \u2013 has become an integral part of the natural environment, and it is home to numerous protected plant and animal species.<\/p>\n

Nearby are Szekr\u00e9nyes-k\u0151 and Borj\u00faf\u0151; on the latter hill, there is a lovely viewing point from which, in good weather and with low humidity, we can enjoy a superb view of the Danube Bend stretching out below us. Not far from here is P\u00e1l\u00f3cki Meadow, which is also well worth a stroll to; indeed, if we set off from the Ap\u00e1t-k\u00fati Valley in Visegr\u00e1d (not far from this point, you can still park your car conveniently at one of the authorised parking spots on the edge of the forest), you can easily make your way up to Pap Meadow, even with a pushchair.<\/p>\n

The Visegr\u00e1d\u2013Pap-r\u00e9t route is an easy walk that promises plenty of sights and excitement; and, proceeding at a leisurely pace, we can set off with confidence, even taking into account the time required for the round trip, and on returning to Telg\u00e1rthy-r\u00e9t, you can even treat yourself to a delicious trout lunch to mark the end of your hike at the \u00d6rd\u00f6gmalom Restaurant, a cosy, family-run forest inn in the Ap\u00e1t-k\u00fati Valley.<\/p>\n
