On Friday 27 January, we will bring this jubilee year, filled with so many wonderful memories, to a close with a festive event.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0The event, to which the organisers warmly welcome all those interested <strong>It starts at 16:30<\/strong>, the first stop will be the cemetery in Visegr\u00e1d, where, by his grave, we will pay tribute to the memory of J\u00f3zsef Viktorin with a joint prayer and a moment of silence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The book launch, which begins at 5.00 pm, will be opened by P\u00e1l Beny\u00f3, Deputy Chair of the Slovak Local Authority of Budapest.\u00a0<br \/>\nThe book is based on Viktorin\u2019s work, published in 1872, the <em>\u201eVisegr\u00e1d: Then and Now\u201d<\/em> A commemorative reprint of the volume on the history of science entitled [title].<br \/>\nWith the help of J\u00f3zsef Demmel, a historian at the National University of Public Service, we can familiarise ourselves with Viktorin\u2019s book and, through it, with the work of one of the great pioneers of Hungarian historiography, as well as with the current academic assessment of his body of work.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Count P\u00e9ter, an archaeologist and historian, will then give a lecture at the same venue entitled \u2018Viktorin from a Modern Perspective\u2019, in which he will attempt to reinterpret Viktorin, explore the possibilities for examining his scholarly work in the 21st century, and assess its value.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Events starting at 5.00 pm <strong>The venue will be the King Matthias Cultural Centre in Visegr\u00e1d<\/strong> (Visegr\u00e1d, 11 Sz\u00e9chenyi Street).<br \/>\n\u2014-<br \/>\nJ\u00f3zsef Viktorin was born in Pozsony in 1822, and in 1866 he was appointed head of the Roman Catholic parish in Visegr\u00e1d. The parish priest, who by then had already made significant contributions to the fields of history and linguistics, took a keen interest in the Upper Castle, which was in a state of ruin and had been abandoned at the time, and he soon began the associated archaeological excavations, with the assistance of such renowned experts as Imre Henszlmann, J\u00e1nos Schulek and Fl\u00f3ris R\u00f3mer.\u00a0<br \/>\nDuring his time here, which lasted until his death, he had a cross erected in memory of Kl\u00e1ra Z\u00e1ch, had the footpath leading from the village to the Citadel on what is now Calvary Hill constructed, had the Calvary Chapel and the Chapel of Our Lady renovated, and Visegr\u00e1d\u2019s school building would not look as it does today were it not for J\u00f3zsef Viktorin.\u00a0<br \/>\nFollowing in their footsteps, the archaeological excavations began in the first half of the 20th century; these continue to this day, and as a result, Visegr\u00e1d\u2019s historical past is now an open book, and one of the most important symbols of the Hungarian people\u2019s historical memory.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2022-ben \u00fcnnepelt\u00fck Viktorin J\u00f3zsef sz\u00fclet\u00e9s\u00e9nek 200-ik \u00e9vfordul\u00f3j\u00e1t, \u00edgy tavaly sz\u00e1mos olyan programra, ki\u00e1ll\u00edt\u00e1sra sor ker\u00fclhetett, mely Visegr\u00e1d t\u00f6rt\u00e9net\u00e9nek egyik legnagyobb kutat\u00f3ja el\u0151tt tiszteleghetett.
