The flooding on the Danube is posing serious challenges for the towns and villages in the Danube Bend, so anyone travelling in this area should definitely check the latest traffic updates for routes that are currently passable.

It is important to note that, although Visegrád is currently holding up well and its restaurants and hotels are open to visitors, access to the town has now become very restricted. Serious congestion can be expected at the start and end of the working day on the open sections of the forest road, as well as from the direction of Pilisszentlászló, which is currently the only route by which Visegrád can be reached from Budapest. For the time being, however, there have been no major disruptions, nor have there been any reports of incidents involving motorists. Everyone is adapting to the current situation calmly and in an orderly manner.
The mobile barrier system is expected to continue to protect the town effectively as a flood barrier over the coming days; water management experts are monitoring and analysing the entire length of the defence system 24 hours a day, however, we must not forget that this is the first time the mobile barrier has been put to the test in a real-life situation since its completion.
According to the authorities, we won’t have to wait much longer for the water levels to peak, but the water is expected to recede extremely slowly, so it is not yet possible to say when Main Road 11 will be fully passable again.
