Statement

On reviews of Visegrád businesses appearing on online forums

In June 2023, the town of Visegrád diverted motorbike traffic from the winding road leading to the Citadel onto the so-called „summer access road” via the Mogyoróhegyi Excursion Centre – Nagyvillám – Hotel Silvanus – Fellegvár. Motorcycles are not permitted on the road running through the town; the prohibition sign is located at the start of Panoráma út. Regardless of this, all the town’s tourist facilities remain accessible to motorcyclists.

With this decision, the local council sought to reduce noise pollution in the city centre, in response to complaints from residents over many years, in order to ensure peace and quiet for both local residents and tourists seeking to relax.

Following the erection of the ‘No Entry’ sign, a section of the motorcycling community – spurred on by influencers – launched a smear campaign against Visegrád, falsely claiming that their access to tourist services within the town centre was being restricted. Businesses are being given 1-star ratings on online platforms – typically on Google Reviews – thereby undermining the excellent ratings that hotels, restaurants, catering establishments and service providers have built up over many years.

These reviews typically do not relate to the services or actual experiences, but rather to accessibility by motorbike – they are therefore irrelevant, based on personal grievances and intended to exert pressure. We ask our visitors to treat such reviews with caution!

Hotels, restaurants, catering establishments and service providers in Visegrád continue to welcome visitors to Visegrád – including those arriving by motorbike! – with the same high standards of service.
