On 7, 8 and 9 July, as it has done for so many years now, Visegrád will once again be decked out in medieval attire to commemorate the 1335 meeting of kings at Visegrád in a fitting manner.
The event, which has been organised annually since 1985, has now grown into one of Central Europe’s most significant historical festivals. The cream of the crop of domestic and international costumed performers are selected from among the very best in their respective fields. Anyone who watches a performance or visits a camp can be sure they will see what everyday life was like in the Middle Ages, centuries ago.
Further proof of the historical accuracy and authenticity of the Visegrád International Palace Games is, amongst other things, the fact that invited teams are arriving from Italy, the Czech Republic, Germany, Slovenia and numerous neighbouring regions, and who, in their own words, consider it a genuine honour to be here with us, at the very spot where, back in those days, King Charles I of Hungary summoned the most prominent leaders of the era.
Today, we welcome visitors at five different venues with a wide variety of programmes: the Jousting Arena, the Royal Palace, the Royal Wine Courtyard, the Park Stage and Solomon’s Tower. In addition, throughout the weekend, visitors can stroll through the medieval fair, where an incredible number of stallholders await the public with their wares, stretching from the Duna Cinema to the Matthias Statue, all the way along Fő Street.
