I warmly invite everyone to join us on this wonderful guided tour of the Danube Bend! Come with us to the southern slopes of the Börzsöny Mountains, and let’s conquer together the peak of Hegyes-tető, which towers like a solitary bastion The Julianus Lookout!
Did you know that the lookout tower was entered into the ‘Lookout Tower of the Year’ competition in 2025 and won the prestigious third prize? This is no coincidence, as the lookout offers a magnificent panorama of the Pilis and Visegrád mountain ranges opposite, whilst in fine weather you can also see the lofty Börzsöny and the mountain peaks of the Upper Lands rising in the distance. The route of the hike also follows part of the National Blue Trail, so if you have your stamp book, you can add another stamp to your collection!

Distance: 8 km, with an elevation gain of 410 m.
The walk starts in Nagymaros and ends in Zebegény, from where we’ll take the train back to our starting point.
😎☀️Given the expected heat, the route will follow the shady forest as much as possible, where the weather is much more pleasant! What’s more, you can kick off the day with an iced coffee at O’Mami and Rozmaring Bistro, AND at the end of the walk, on the banks of the Danube in Zebegény, you can continue the day on the beach by sunbathing, relaxing and cooling off! So don’t forget to bring your swimwear on the walk! 😎⛱️
Difficulty rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (A moderately difficult hike, which I’d happily recommend even to beginners! The only real challenge is the climb itself; you’ll need suitable footwear for the hike, but with that, completing the route shouldn’t be a problem.)
Entry fee: 5,000 Ft for adults; free for under-18s!
With a Wanderer card: 4,000 Ft for adults, free for under-18s!
The price includes: a guided tour and organisation by a bronze-badge-qualified tour guide certified by the MTSZ.
Places are limited (25 people) and you can apply by completing and submitting the application form! Once you have applied, you will receive an email confirmation with details on how to pay the participation fee and information regarding cancellation options.
