The Saturday Hiking Adventures series is a brilliant opportunity if you’re looking for an easy hike and some good company!
On the 10th hike in this series, we’ll be exploring the area between Szokolya and Verőce, and this time we’ll also be admiring the panoramic view of the Danube Bend from a more distant vantage point.
Places of interest: Szokolya, the valley of the Morgó Stream / Magas Hill / Nagy-Kő Hill (Lokó rest area) / Magyarkút / Verőce – the banks of the Danube.
At the end of the tour, there will be an optional opportunity to go to the beach in Verőce and have lunch on the banks of the Danube.
Meeting and itinerary: We’ll set off together from Vác railway station and travel by train to Szokoly. Our walk ends at Verőce railway station, from where we’ll take the train back to Vác, our starting point.
Distance: 12 km, with 220 m of elevation gain (one-way walk)
Level of difficulty: ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5: a moderately difficult hike, which I’d generally recommend even for beginners, but you’ll need a pair of hiking boots that don’t slip and provide good ankle support)
