In early spring, the Fighters’ Run comes to Visegrád, in the heart of the Danube Bend. Over the weekend of 22–23 March, anyone who loves obstacle course racing and trail running will be able to put themselves to the test across a total of seven different events. At the event, adults and children, beginners, advanced runners and lovers of longer distances alike will find the challenge that best suits them.
Let’s talk about the various starting options. The Initiation is a kind of fun run, involving a 6–7 km course with 10–12 obstacles, making the Fighters’ Run accessible to beginners and those returning to the sport.
A classic feature of the series of events is the „short-distance” race, which is a must here too: it features a course of between 8 and 11 km with 20–25 obstacles – this is the event hailed as the most popular by competitors, which can be completed either individually or as a team, with different rules applying in each case, of course.
In Visegrád, the longest distance is the Individual Triple, which only a handful of „mad” competitors dare to attempt – in this event, participants must complete the short-distance course three times. As well as the 30–33 km distance, they must tackle an elevation gain of roughly 1,300 m and more than 70 obstacles. A total time limit of 7.5 hours is allowed for the entire course.
The event aimed at the youngest participants is the Farkaskölykök children’s race, organised for children aged 4–14 – here, races are held over several obstacle course distances, depending on the age group.
It’s also well worth taking part for those who enjoy completing a race without any obstacles – there will be a 12 km cross-country run and a 12 km cross-country run with dogs for them.
The event’s race centre is the Visegrád Sports Centre on the banks of the Danube – and the organisers are preparing to deliver their usual unique festival atmosphere. It’s well worth spending the whole weekend here, as the area boasts exceptional natural beauty and marvellous historical sites. Visegrád also offers a wide range of activities, so participants and their companions can choose from a variety of leisure options outside the competition itself.
The number of entrants has now exceeded 1,300. You can register at the current discounted rate until 16 February. The organisers warmly welcome anyone interested! Further details can be found on the Fighters’ Run website: www.fightersrun.com.
