Today’s Baroque-style church, which is a listed building, (listed building registration number 7496, floor area 310 m²) It was built between 1773 and 1782 according to the plans of Schade Leonard (Lénárd), a master builder from Esztergom.
The main altar of this single-nave, single-tower church with a vaulted interior is adorned with an altarpiece of striking colour. It was painted by Johann Josef Hauzinger. He was a favourite painter of Maria Theresa and created the work in question in 1766, entitled „Christ on the Cross with Mary, Mary Magdalene and St John the Evangelist”, and it originally adorned the altar of the Sigismund Chapel in the Buda Castle. It was moved to Visegrád after the chapel was rebuilt and renamed the Chapel of the Holy Right Hand in the 1930s. (The work had previously been erroneously attributed to the 18th-century painter Vincenz Fischer.)
The church’s other furnishings – the pulpit, the pews and the baptismal font – also date from the 18th century.
The church underwent external renovation in 1960. By 1973, to mark its 200th anniversary, the interior had been refurbished. In 1974, it underwent further external renovation. The church was renovated in 1991.

Carpet of flowers
A special celebration and tradition of the church is the Corpus Christi flower carpet, which remains on display for about a month after it is laid.
