László Madas Forestry School

The László Madas Forestry School, founded in 1988 on Mogyoró Hill in Visegrád and later named after its founder, is the very first forest school in Hungary and Europe. It has been operating at full capacity since its foundation, welcoming 8,000 visitors a year. Today, it is the children of former forest school pupils who attend the camp.

Most of the programmes are aimed at nursery and primary school children, but we also welcome bookings from adult groups and families. For those visiting for just one day, the „Forest Festivals” programme series and themed walks offer experiences centred on nature and folk traditions. The programmes are not limited to the summer season but run throughout the year.

The wooden cabins, situated in the immediate vicinity of the forest school’s main building – the Forest Cultural Centre designed by Imre Makovecz – can accommodate up to 130 people. Our forest school not only welcomes groups of children to the wooden cottages, but also looks forward to hearing from families, hikers and groups of friends who love the outdoors!
