The film is a fascinating portrait of the life and legacy of an extraordinary religious leader, the 16th Karmapa (1924–1981), and the story of an extraordinary encounter that changed the spiritual landscape of the Western world. Revered as the head of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, the lama was described by many as a „living Buddha” and the „king of yogis” – the Karmapa’s person and teachings continue to influence millions of people around the world to this day. How can we find our way to timeless wisdom? The lives of Ole Nydahl and his wife, Hannah, changed radically in 1969. The Danish hippies became key figures in the spread of Tibetan Buddhism in the West thanks to a life-changing encounter with the Karmapa in Nepal. As a result of their decades of work, they established hundreds of meditation centres worldwide, from Mexico City to Vladivostok, and carried on their teacher’s vision with unwavering dedication.
