From 22 to 24 September, our town’s beer festival will be held in Visegrád for the fifth time this year; it has now grown into a real family weekend.

Next to the recently unveiled statue of Charles I, in their now familiar spot on the Event Square, the festival pavilions will be erected, as will the stage, on which, on Friday, the Judy in the Sky will be the guest from 7.00 pm on Saturday at the Mondschein Chapel Starting at 6.00 pm, whilst Sunday will be full of excitement for the little ones. Among other things, a mini funfair and a humorous animal show will be waiting for them, and we’ll also be welcoming a special guest over the weekend Ferenc Kőhalmi, magician too.

This weekend will see the debut of the Pomáz Fire Brigade Band, the Nagymaros Wildenrosen Traditional Dance Society, a Visegrád Wind Orchestra, in Dunabogdány Donauknie Dance Group, as well as the Independent Swabian Singing Society From Visegrád. As is clear from the programme, the organisers are once again focusing on reviving the Swabian traditions of the surrounding countryside as their central theme this year; this culture has been a defining feature of the Danube Bend since the time of Maria Theresa.

Although winemaking and the wine trade are the first things that spring to mind when we think of the Swabians of the Danube Bend, we must not overlook the fact that beer-making and the culture of beer-drinking are something of a hallmark for the Germans. Visegrád Beer, which has been brewed since 2020 and is the pride of our town’s gastronomic scene, is also committed to upholding this tradition, as evidenced by the fact that this year’s beer festival will be the fifth to be held.

This year’s patron of the event is Dr Eszter Vitályos, Deputy Minister and Member of Parliament.
