One of the very first themed events of the autumn, focusing on grapes, grape must, wine and the grape harvest, will take place in Visegrád on 13 September.

The Visegrád German Ethnic Minority Local Council has been organising its traditional harvest ball for many decades. The history of this event, illustrated with fascinating photographs Click here to read the piece by Károlyné Kiss, in the final third of the article.

Visegrád has a long-standing tradition of viticulture and winemaking stretching back centuries, and although the devastating phylloxera epidemic at the turn of the last century did not spare this region either, respect for this tradition, and the adoption of methods adapted to new opportunities, the practice eventually found its way forward.

The parade will set off from Visegrád-Újtelep at 10.00, and the organisers and participants will be stopping off at several locations along the way.

The event itself will take place at 7.00 pm at the Swabian Heritage House, where there will be „open cellars” and a buffet, so there’ll be no shortage of delicacies, wines or a great atmosphere.

Live music for the evening will be provided by the Tata Acoustic Project.
