There will be a town pig-slaughtering festival again this year, in keeping with tradition.
For the 11th time now, we can enjoy the authentic atmosphere of the pig-slaughtering festival in Visegrád, which has always been regarded as one of the highlights of rural life.

We can now look back on ten years, each of which has featured a community pig-slaughtering feast, so we can confidently describe this as an event that has become a tradition. It is an event that, in addition to its enjoyable, entertaining, community-building aims, during which those interested can gain a direct insight into the evolving, developing and, in many respects, unaltered culinary traditions of the people who have lived in the area for centuries.

We can find answers to these and similar questions if we visit the courtyard of the Health Centre in Visegrád on Saturday 27 January.

The organisers and teams made up of local civil society organisations will be welcoming visitors from 09:00. From 10.30 am, a live music programme featuring pupils and teachers from the music school will begin, followed by a performance by the Visegrád Men’s Choir from 12.00 noon. From 14:00, the band Pedrofon will entertain the audience with a repertoire that is sure to include hits from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s.

Admission is free, and the organisers will also provide plates and cutlery.
There will be a charity collection at the event, and we will use the donations raised to send aid consignments to war-torn Transcarpathia.
