As Rezső Gutbrod, manager of the Nagyvillám Ski Slope, put it, winter has been „playing tricks” on us of late, but now all the signs point to the cold spell being here to stay, and the ski season can finally get underway in Visegrád too. We’re really keeping our fingers crossed!

Snowmaking on the slopes began in the last few days of January, but the weather warmed up rapidly, so unfortunately it was not possible to make any of the sections skiable.
A few days after the major warm spell, however, the cold spell – which has persisted to this day – proved to be more prolonged, and now the onset of cold weather is just a stone’s throw away, and what’s more, it’s coming from the east.
This means that the air currents coming from Siberia are, as usual, persistent, humidity is favourably low, and snowmaking can therefore be considered particularly successful by now, that is, by the start of the week (6 February).

In light of the forecasts, we can therefore say that there is a very good chance the Nagyvillám Ski Slope will open this week; winter sports enthusiasts, and fans of the Visegrád slope can therefore go ahead and get their ski gear, snowboards and skis ready; and, with just a little bit of luck, the news that the slope is open could arrive at almost any moment.
