Nagyvillám Ski Slope

Skiing has a tradition stretching back more than 40 years in Visegrád. The first ski lift was built on the southern slope of Nagy-Villám Hill, on the site of today’s bobsleigh track; what makes it special is that people were already skiing on grass in the area even back then.

In the mid-1980s, new slopes and ski lifts were built on the northern side of the mountain, after which the natural snow cover gradually became less reliable, so by 2005, snow cannons were being used to ensure a covering of snow on the extended, gently sloping sections.

Lawn mowing has been going on ever since, and it’s been 10 years now We also teach on synthetic pitches children from the neighbourhood, from the end of September onwards.

There are currently 9 lifts in operation, 5 of which are covered in artificial snow, on a slope lit up every evening (on the northern side of Nagy-Villám Hill), catering primarily for children and families, just a stone’s throw from Budapest. A snow park, snow tubing and a free toboggan run round off the range of facilities, complete, of course, with a buffet, a warming room and plenty of natural snow; the steep and forest runs are also open. Our main focus is on ski and snowboard lessons, with a dedicated slope and equipment hire.

Next to the Citadel, in beautiful surroundings, a genuine winter and summer sports centre is taking shape, which will be refurbished in the near future with government support to provide an even better service.

We look forward to welcoming everyone!
