The famous hotel in Visegrád was forced to close for 13 months, but in early April this year the long-awaited moment will finally arrive: the Hotel Silvanus will open its doors.
In March 2024 – just over a year ago – Silvanus had to be closed following a serious fire, which caused several billion forints’ worth of damage to the building, although, thank goodness, no one was injured.
Shortly after the damage had been assessed, the hotel management made it clear that they were committed to their staff and the hotel’s future, and it eventually became apparent that, alongside the restoration work, previously planned development projects had also begun, as the necessity for such radical measures naturally presented an opportunity for this as well.
So, come April, hotel guests will be welcomed upstairs by a huge outdoor wellness area and a significantly refurbished and expanded indoor wellness centre. By May, plans are in place for what is perhaps the most significant result of the refurbishment to be completed: the huge swimming pool overlooking the Danube Bend, the creation of which will see an old dream come true…
A new sauna and jacuzzi, as well as a banya sauna, are being built, and the changing room will also be considerably larger – a development that is by no means insignificant, given that the Silvanus wellness area will effectively double in size compared to what we have seen so far.
