The Visegrád Trout Lakes in the Apátkút Valley are a little world of their own, and well worth a visit at least once for anyone passing through our village.

You don’t have to be a die-hard angler, let alone be exceptionally skilled at the sport.
But if you love the atmosphere of the forest, delicious smoked trout, peace and quiet, and being far away from the noise of the cities, then you’ll love everything the Apátkúti Valley has to offer.

The lakes created in the 1980s were considered a real rarity in this region, but the disastrous rainfall of the 1990s damaged the area to such an extent that trout farming unfortunately came to an end. Then, in 2010, Miklós Koncz (son of Antal Koncz, the lakes’ first operator) and Gábor Szabó decided to revive the lakes after twenty years of apparent dormancy, and opted to stock them with 15,000 trout. Thanks to their hard work, perseverance and the huge interest from visitors, travellers will now find a veritable fairy-tale world up there, complete with a cosy little restaurant, the Ördögmalom Restaurant, situated next to the waterfall (and the botanical garden).

This stretch of woodland, which has become a firm favourite with visitors to our town in recent years, also marks the gateway to the Pilis Mountains, from where we can set off on our hikes along numerous tourist trails from Visegrád.
