Anyone who visited Visegrád in January – or even just in the last few days – and found themselves in the area around the Upper Castle or Solomon’s Tower, will have noticed that the sense of time travel – which is, in any case, an everyday occurrence in these parts – has now taken on an even more intense form than usual…

Visegrád has recently become the setting for medieval backdrops, costumed groups even larger than usual, mysterious village scenes, carts and structures appearing here and there, and numerous surprising moments. The reason for this is that, much to our delight, our town’s iconic historical landmarks have once again been chosen as locations for the filming of large-scale films.

This is by no means unusual. Visegrád has already provided an authentic setting for several Hungarian and foreign films; anyone with a keen eye can easily spot the familiar castle walls, towers and gates whilst watching a film. We are very proud of this, and we can’t wait to see the legacy preserved by our ancestors – which is so important to us – reflected once again in the scenes of this historical film currently being shot.

So January is by no means uneventful round here. If you happen to be in the area, do feel free to take a stroll – even just as far as Solomon’s Tower – and, whilst respecting any road closures and barriers, do take a look at this exciting little world for yourself.
