Monday’s cold weather had already helped, so work began on snowmaking on the slopes, although the current thaw has not improved the situation…

Rezső Gutbrod, the operator of the Nagyvillám Ski Slope, said that, thanks to the cold weather at the start of the week, they had managed to make a good start on preparing the slopes, there was already enough snow beneath Run 1/A to make the lower sections suitable for beginners to practise on, though this was, of course, not quite enough overall. Wednesday’s snowfall was also much needed to ensure there was sufficient depth along the lift tracks, but the rise in temperature was not welcome.

At the moment, there’s still a huge need to keep the machines running continuously; a bit of extra snow would be welcome, as would a spell of steady cold weather in the days ahead. However, if the stars align perfectly, the real season could even get underway this weekend.

At present, sledging is only permitted outside the fenced-off areas; it is prohibited within the slopes and is extremely dangerous, so we would ask all sledgers to stay outside the slopes.
